Rock on My Porch....

I have been desperately waiting to go shopping for the past week with no time to do so. So today I set out shop, with coupons in hand my first stop was Old navy, I have been seeing ads and emails for sales so I thought I would check it out. After walking out with only one cute tank for myself and a polo for hubby, I was disappointed but moved on to the next store. Which I found nothing, finally with only an hour to spare before I had to pick up K, I stopped into A.C. Moore, (for thise who dont know it's a large craft- do it yourself store, a lot like Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics only VERY cheap). As I was walking in I noticed the unfinished rocking chairs sitting outside. I have wanted a rocking chair for my front porch for many years and was so excited to see they were only 79.99. I asked a employee if they had more than the display and they had 2 left. I felt like I was in luck, and to assure I was in luck the manager who helped me bring them out to my car said he would take my 50% off coupon for both chairs!! I ended up paying $80 for two rocking chars that normally priced for 159.99. I was so excited, when I got home I assembled the bottoms and sat on my porch with a HUGE smile on my face. Here is a pic,(this is not the actual ones), Tomorrow I am off to get paint and flowers to spruce up the porch a bit, only not sure to paint them white or black I havent decided yet. Tonight I'm off with Hubby it's our ritual date night, excited to be alone with him and relax, gnight....

Save to Spend!!

Well, well, well I have so much to talk about first off, I went to the mall today. Looking for some spring summer clothes. Im a bargain hunter, and love coupons. Anytime I can save I will, I do on the other hand splurge for the big important things like shoes, and handbags. Anyway went to Ann Taylor Loft and picked up a few things just to find out that tomorrow starts there 30% off special. So here is a link to the couon: http://ebm.cheetahmail.com/c/tag/hBJ9Od1BdYR8vB7j4oO$LIBIIIa/doc.html?&email=mommysavesbig

Excited to go back tomorrow and get what I had picked out. Also in my plan are stopping by OldNavy and Lands End. I haven't hit up the larger mall in CT where every store possible is, but am hoeing to get MR. there this weekend.

On another note, about a month ago Mr. and I decided to build a fire pit, much easier said then done. But after long Saturday and heavy lifting we were finally done a couple weeks ago and had our first bonfire Saturday night. We had some friends over and enjoyed a little bonfire and smores. The weather here in Ne England has been in the 80's which is very unusual this time of year, so it was a great night of smores and beers with some friends. Here is a pic of K before it was her bedtime, you can see she got into the smore thing and had fun with it.

Pretending its summer!!

Since I'm home today and my car is at the dealership getting repaired, I was kinda stuck with nothing to do. I decided to make this yummy desert I found in the Better Homes magazine. I think it is a perfect dessert for the summer, but wanted to get a head start, and since its raining here in New England, I thought it would be nice to pretend. It was fairly easy and if or when I make it again I'm going to have K help me, its easy for kids to make, mix spread and bake. After it comes out of the oven you spread the jam on it and spread the strawberries over it. K and the Mr. LOVED and K is a picky eater. She said it tasted like PB and Jelly, I thought it was better. I put some cool whip on the side and served. VERY EASY and YUMMY! The link is below and it is the first recipe, called Fresh Strawberry Bars

Annoying Phone Calls

Everyone gets those annoying phone calls, where they ask you to hold while they get a representative, and ask if you can please make a donation to jimmy fund, our local catholic church,ms walk, 3rd world countries, or my favorite the local police department and the list goes on. Well not that I'm a horrible person because i have made some contributions in the past,(which is why and how they got my number), but were in a recession people. I don't have a job and can hardly keep up with my own bills, let alone donations to help the police department have another vehicle to chase after ME with. So here is my plan every time they call, I'm going too write down there number then one day, after a few glasses of wine, I'm going to call them, ask them to hold, then ask THEM for a donation. Lets see if they can help the less fortunate, who cant find a job.
Again I'm not greedy or a stickler for donations, I do my large fair of donating and volunteering every year. All I ask is that you do not call my house at 8:00 in the morning asking for money.

Back from Boston

Well were settled in back from our weekend away in Boston. First off any blog readers that live in Boston, I am terribly jealous of you. Every time I visit the city I love it more and more and would move there in a heart beat. I told my husband I hope K goes to college in Boston so we can visit and maybe get an apt on the other side of the bridge. I love love love it there. First off we went to the house of blues, for a State Radio concert which was fun. Sunday we went to a Sox game which they won, and was exciting. Not my first time at fen way but every time i go i love it more, it is a small yet clean old stadium. I have been to the Mets and Yankees games and felt it was overcrowded and VeRy dirty. I don't know if because it was over crowded but it was not a great place to go to enjoy a game.

All though I did not get a chance to do any shopping, it was a nice stay in the hotel,(Renaissance Marriott hotel on Congress) we stayed on the 21st floor and had a great view. After talking it over with Mr. he agreed for us t go back Memorial day weekend with K. I'm excited and already planning the trip, she has never been so this will be exciting. We decided to stay in the same hotel since it was so nice, here is the view from the room --

TGIF!!!

As happy as I am that its Friday, I'm more happy about the weekend ahead. Tomorrow morning were heading out to Boston to see State radio live and a sox game Sunday. Im charging the camera and packing the bags. Besides myself the hubby and another couple are joining us. NO KIDDIES!! we haven't had a break or a day away in awhile so this is something to be excited about.

Its also K's last spring break day off that I can spend with her since she will be with her grandparents over the weekend. We are going to hit up Oldnavy for a bathing suit for her, I picked up this one last week but was the wrong size. Then tonight is K's soccer practice, which I enjoy going to cause I can read in the car for a good hour with peace and quiet.

Check out Gap/Banana's new site called Athleta. It's all sports wear, great skirts for golf and tennis. I'm excited to check out the whole site, here is just a peek at something I might have to order:

Bad for Dogs

I just received an email from someone who recently bought cocoa mulch from Target and after her dog ate some of it thinking it smelt and must taste good. The next day the black lab had a seizure and died. It is a very sad story, to any pet owners and friends that have pets please let them know not to buy this mulch.

On a much happier note Pottery Barn just added over 100 new items to there spring sale. As one of my favorite interior stores I was so happy to see some of these items on sale. Here are some I would love to order for my own home.

Lilly n' a little peabody

Today was another fun filled day with K, we went to Peabody museum in New haven, which is a great place. the admission is cheap and has some neat exhibits. After taking many pics, hitting up the gift shop we decided to stop at Ikea which is another great cheap place to stop. We had lunch picked up a few things and made our way home.
After reviewing my emails and looking into a few sales on the web I saw that Lilly has released her spring line, I am so happy with it and love that celebrity's are involved. Here is a peek at my fave, and even though it is out of my league in pricing, I can still dream :)

Hannah or Miley

After knowing I will be home all week with K for her spring break, I decided to bring her to see the new Hannah Montana movie. It was actually pretty good, for adults and kids, not to corny and good music. K and her best friend loved it and when we got home I could here them singing from K's playhouse.

FYI: when small children are sitting in a theater try not to sit directly in front of them, stadium seating or not, they have small bodies and its hard enough to keep there 40 pound bodies sitting in the chair without it folding on them, (we had to move 4 times)

On another note, I'm planning tomorrow to bring her to the Peabody Museum in the Yale neighborhood of New Haven. I remember going there when I was a little one with my mom, even though I was not into the dinosaurs I think K will love it. Any more ideas in the CT area let me know.

Welcome!!!

This being my first post I wanted to tell you a little about myself. I'm in my mid 20's and live in a small populated town in Connecticut. I married my high school sweetheart a couple months ago after a long engagement. We have a 7 year old daughter who we will call K. I am very very happy with my life as it is now. After making some rough decisions with my career have decided to be a stay at home mom while studying to be a home stager. I should receive my accreditation by the end of summer.
I love decorating, with style new and old, mostly a little prep. I love new ideas and like many others I like saving a little money while doing it. If you would like to follow my blog you will see I will post style and ideas from things I have found traveling or Internet. I like simple but with a crafty twist. My wardrobe on the other hand, I am in LOVE with Jcrew's style but not there price tags. I will also post things I find and things I love that show my personality and maybe yours, through prep and style. So come follow, I would love to hear about you and follow your travels. god Bless!!
