Back from Vaca!!

Our 9 day vacation with family in North Carolina is officially over, we drove in our driveway this morning about 7:00a.m. from driving the 12 hour trip. I'm exhausted and I know Mr. is too. We all have been cranky but we have one thing to be thankful for, the vacation went awesome!! We stayed with our cousins who have 2 small girls 6 and 8,(Kyla is 7). Also my other cousins came down from Boston and our staying the month, they also have two wee ones 3 and 5. We had a blast!!
I got to do some shopping but didn't find anything great to blog about. We stopped at the town arts and crafts on the green where i picked up a handmade necklace and dish with starfish, its actually a butter dish but I loved it for my rings and earring that I wear every day. Some funny and idiotic things happened also. First night Mr. decided to go get a couple drinks with my cousin and he woke my up at 1 am to tell me he accidentally walked straight off the boat dock. He got a few scrapes on his hand but is fine, except his blackberry is now broken, so since he gets more important calls than me, I gave him my phone and took my sim card out. When my cousin Kelly came from Boston she brought me her old razor she doesn't use anymore, well I figured that would help for now except after a couple days, we were on the boat and I was moving up to the front and I quickly stuck my phone in the waist of my bathing suit. Lets just say I forgot it was there and swam in the cape fear river for about an hour!! So i am officially out of a phone and have been spending all night looking for one. Wish me luck!! Here are some pics of the past week in Southport, NC.

Pack it up !!

So this week will be the busiest week we have had in the house since the wedding. Kyla's last day of first grade is tomorrow !! As excited as I am for her, we are also leaving Friday night to drive 11 hours to North Carolina. I'm in the midst of packing, choosing outfits and trying to get odds and ends done around the house!! On top of it my in laws are planning on taking a emergency trip to Portugal Wed. Mr.s grandmother is very ill and his parents need to be by her side right now. So I am helping them leave. I think all this running around and packing will be all worth it, when we are on vacation next week. SOOOO over due and looking forward to the beach...

Found the shoes!!

I had posted last week about how I am looking for new shoes. Well I found them! Only its at clarks.com and i would want to try them on first. Oh and there $90!!!. What do you think are they worth it??

Rock on my porch!!

I finally finished the front porch!! I am kicking myself for not taking a before picture, because you would not believe the transformation, but just imagine, dark cracked concrete floors, very large hedges that were about 5 feet high, and a old wooden bench. All I wanted to do was have some old rocking chairs, but once I started i couldn't stop!! I started off by buying the rocking chairs at A.C Moore and painted them black, I also took the old bench and painted the wood black. I then made cushions and pillows with outdoor fabric, I bought some flowers, and moved the boxwood's from the side of the house where they were over growing. Here is the final project!

Do you wanna laugh??

Tonight I went with Mr. and hubby to see the hangover. I have seen some very very funny movies but I definitely think this might be my second funniest movie ever seen. Its a must see if you need a good laugh, and good news is they are already in production for making a second. Also who doesn't want to see Bradley Cooper?

P.s. Everyone has different taste in humor, If you didnt like Wedding Crashers or sexual harsh humor this movie is not for you, Also its Rated R not a kids movie,(not that I think anyone would bring kids but when we were walking out we did see some kids maybe around 12 years old with there parents) the name of it is Hangover, be a parent!!

I miss my Bella

I had to drop off my Bella this morning to the vet to get spayed and I really miss her!! I was home all day not feeling well and usually when I'm on the couch watching tv she crawls up next to me, I miss her. I know that spaying/neutering is a operation done everyday but I hope shes doing alright. I let her bring her favorite toy her squeaker, I will let you know how she is when I pick her up tomorrow. :(

Shoes !!

I need them desperatley, I have never been a huge shoe girl, even though I have a lot. I dont like high heelse and I dont like straps wrapped around my ankle, but that doesnt mean I wont wear them. Right now I need shoes that i want to wear. I could wear my black havianas every day of my life. I buy shoes, look at them, wear them once then they stay in the closet. I need a pair of shoes that I can wear through the summer, that will go with much of my wardrobe which I decided would have to be brown or gold. I started looking online, even though I refuse to buy shoes online anymore, everytime I do its a waste of money. I think: I'll wear them so what if there tight Im not sending them back. But it would be better for me to pay the shipping charges then not get the money back for a pair of shoes I will never wear!!!
I need some ideas please help!!

Putting a little prep in my Pillow

After showing my new bedroom, and looking at the pictures I decided no more waiting, I needed to finish up my blah bed. So i went to the fabric store bought some fabric buttons and ribbon, and above is how they turned out. Here are some close pics you can the anchor buttons I chose for the white pillow to give it some more style.

So what do you think ??? Did I go over board with the ribbons and bows? Mr. said he likes it but i think he would say that no matter what I put on the bed!

My master bedroom masterpiece !

This past 2 weeks I have been working on our master bedroom, I did not take before pictures but just imagine old dark wood furniture, a cramped room and stark white walls, includeing my out of place Waverly duvet. Mr and I decided to start by looking for a new bed, but that turned into a complete makeover. Our room is small as it is so we didnt want a lot of furniture, but we have a lot of clothes between the two of us, so we needed the storage space. Here are the pics after a long weekend of moving in the furniture and putting the room together.
The color of the walls are sequin by Shermin Williams
The bed was bought from my Uncle it was in need of some repair and it was a light colored wood, I painted it black.
I used all white sheets with a white duvet cover and boutht the colored duvet cover from Pottery Barn and used it to cover my old Waverly duvet.

I put a rug under the bed over the hardwood floors

My inspiration for the room was the guest bedroom from the HGTV Dream home in Sonoma, CA

Here are more pics, you can see the duvet in close up, also the tab curtains i bought really cheap at Target, but cut off the tabs and used the rings instead.

The nightsand and dresser we bought at a discount furniture store.

Things Im looking for are:
mirror for over the dresser
something for over the bed
trash can that does not look like a trash can :)

Let me know if anyone has any ideas

IM Still here !!

I can not believe I have not posted since the middle of May, I am such a bad blogger. Well as you can guess, Ive been very busy. Miss Kyla has had a birthday party every weekend including soccer and Mr. hubby's schedule changed at work for a week its just been very crazy.
Last Thursday my mother flew up from Palm Beach, I have not seen her since Feb. So it was a nice visit. I'm not going to lie, my mother and I do not get along that well. We but heads a lot and more than I would like to say we get in an argument where one or the other hangs up on the other person. We can go weeks with out talking but now since she has moved to Florida(last year), our relationship has improved. We spent the weekend being lazy and relaxing by the pool, we made some good food and Miss Kyla has her last soccer game. Kyla also won a medal for Most smiley on the field.!! I very proud of her, her team was undefeated.
Well anyway not to get off track but the biggest reason why I had to make a post was were going on our annual summer vacation in 3 weeks, and as excited as I am, I'm trying to get all the outfits mentally ready before packing day. I have come up with some good outfits too, but my biggest problem is a purse!! I bought a new one in April but already hate it! i go through bags fast but I just cant find anything anywhere that I like. I dint want anything too small or bulky. I need some fresh ideas and help. Please let me know what you have in mind for a summer bag. Thanks

Hey big SAVER!!!

After a long mid-day soccer game which little K won 7-1 we went for a car ride to upstate CT and did some shopping. On the way home the MR. and I did some calculating and we saved well over 200 dollars. We bought K some well needed new clothes for summer from the Gap which was an extra 25% off sale items-- here are a few things I added to her wardrobe...

If you are ever in CT or live here and haven't checked out Evergreen Walk, I highly recommend it. Its a great family oriented outside shopping area. Tonight was a doggy day where they had events for family's and puppies, very cute! Check out the website for more info :

After getting little K done with and picking up few more things at Justice, which I can say I'm not so crazy about, the Mr. and I did some shopping for ourselves. I picked up a dress at jcrew for 19.99!! AND a cute outfit from J.Jill and Mr. bought some shorts from the gap. After having dinner at johnny rockets and cold stone ice cream we called it a day and head home. Mr. and I are about to watch 7 pounds, Ive heard some mixed reviews so looking forward to seeing it. That's all for now.
Oh and check out Maple syrup mustard from Stonewall kitchen, K says its absolutely amazing we had to buy a jar,(K never thinks any food besides pizza and pbj is amazing).

I also recieved a large Vera duffle bag which I have had on my wish list for awhile.
We then went for a ride to mini golf, lunch at a mexican bach front rest. with the bet daiquiris and fo a nice walk on the beach.
I hope everyone had a great mothers day !!

What to do for Mothers Day??

The day is approaching where we thank our Mothers for the job well done, and there non stop care and support in our lives. The picture above is My mother on my wedding day and her mother my grandma and K as the flower girl. This year I will not be able to see my mom, she has since moved to Palm Beach. I still wanted to surprise her with something special. After her always complaining that she does not have enough pictures of K, I decided to make a small photobook on shutterfly, of K and I. It came yesterday in the mail and I am so pleased with it, and after making a care package with some new summer clothes I picked out for her and with K's 6 cards she made, I am going to mail it today. My mother in-law on the other hand is very hard to please and usually picks out her own Christmas and birthday gifts, so I am still undecided on what to get her. Any suggestions?
For myself, the suggestions to my hubby and K are endless but this year have kept my lips sealed. I have a Pandora and troll bracelet, and usually every holiday my daughter picks one out to give to me. But this year I want something different I want a surprise, (Mr. does not read this blog so I am not giving any hints,). I looked online last night for some last minute rooms in Newport,RI and Block Island. The weather isn't that great in BI just yet, so Newport looks a little better, and i love Newport, which K has never been. I would love to pack the car up and stay for a night just walk around get Sunday brunch and relax with the family. But that idea is up to the Mr. Honestly cant see this happning this year. So it might just be our ritual of breakfast and maybe a day walking the beach, which would still be perfect for me. So any ideas ?? send them my way

Blog before Bed..

I realize I have not put up a new post in a couple days, so I decided before bed instead of watching my ritual Sunday night line up TV, I would go to bed early, so with my laptop in hand, I have a much needed update.
First off after I took out all my last year spring/summer clothes and picking out what I would still wear I decided to grab some more things for my wardrobe. I started off at Ann Taylor Loft, which I love and had a 30% coupon for final order. I bought this blue summer dress and blue embroidery shirt. Also picked up some things from Lands end like these bermuda shorts with the cute preppy tie belt, I bougt these in brown and khaki! Also at new york and co. a stripe shirt with capris, a loungs outfit.
Saturday cam my much needed project of sewing the outdoor pillows. Today here in CT was rainy but once it gets warmer I will take pics of the final project, with the rocking chairs, I am so proud of howthey came out.
This week ahead my next project is to do some indoor painting, our hallway is stark white with little finger print and I cringe everytime I see it, I am finaly going to get it over with so once it gets warmer I can moove to the gardening.

I almost forgot, yeaterday after spending half the day at the sewing machine the MR. came home from golfing, I went over a friends house for a girls movie night. We started off with Bride Wars which was good I give it a 5, then watched Yes Man with Jim Carey, who I am not a huge fan of, but honestly died with laughter, Its a must see.

Rock on My Porch....

I have been desperately waiting to go shopping for the past week with no time to do so. So today I set out shop, with coupons in hand my first stop was Old navy, I have been seeing ads and emails for sales so I thought I would check it out. After walking out with only one cute tank for myself and a polo for hubby, I was disappointed but moved on to the next store. Which I found nothing, finally with only an hour to spare before I had to pick up K, I stopped into A.C. Moore, (for thise who dont know it's a large craft- do it yourself store, a lot like Michaels and JoAnn Fabrics only VERY cheap). As I was walking in I noticed the unfinished rocking chairs sitting outside. I have wanted a rocking chair for my front porch for many years and was so excited to see they were only 79.99. I asked a employee if they had more than the display and they had 2 left. I felt like I was in luck, and to assure I was in luck the manager who helped me bring them out to my car said he would take my 50% off coupon for both chairs!! I ended up paying $80 for two rocking chars that normally priced for 159.99. I was so excited, when I got home I assembled the bottoms and sat on my porch with a HUGE smile on my face. Here is a pic,(this is not the actual ones), Tomorrow I am off to get paint and flowers to spruce up the porch a bit, only not sure to paint them white or black I havent decided yet. Tonight I'm off with Hubby it's our ritual date night, excited to be alone with him and relax, gnight....

Save to Spend!!

Well, well, well I have so much to talk about first off, I went to the mall today. Looking for some spring summer clothes. Im a bargain hunter, and love coupons. Anytime I can save I will, I do on the other hand splurge for the big important things like shoes, and handbags. Anyway went to Ann Taylor Loft and picked up a few things just to find out that tomorrow starts there 30% off special. So here is a link to the couon: http://ebm.cheetahmail.com/c/tag/hBJ9Od1BdYR8vB7j4oO$LIBIIIa/doc.html?&email=mommysavesbig

Excited to go back tomorrow and get what I had picked out. Also in my plan are stopping by OldNavy and Lands End. I haven't hit up the larger mall in CT where every store possible is, but am hoeing to get MR. there this weekend.

On another note, about a month ago Mr. and I decided to build a fire pit, much easier said then done. But after long Saturday and heavy lifting we were finally done a couple weeks ago and had our first bonfire Saturday night. We had some friends over and enjoyed a little bonfire and smores. The weather here in Ne England has been in the 80's which is very unusual this time of year, so it was a great night of smores and beers with some friends. Here is a pic of K before it was her bedtime, you can see she got into the smore thing and had fun with it.

Pretending its summer!!

Since I'm home today and my car is at the dealership getting repaired, I was kinda stuck with nothing to do. I decided to make this yummy desert I found in the Better Homes magazine. I think it is a perfect dessert for the summer, but wanted to get a head start, and since its raining here in New England, I thought it would be nice to pretend. It was fairly easy and if or when I make it again I'm going to have K help me, its easy for kids to make, mix spread and bake. After it comes out of the oven you spread the jam on it and spread the strawberries over it. K and the Mr. LOVED and K is a picky eater. She said it tasted like PB and Jelly, I thought it was better. I put some cool whip on the side and served. VERY EASY and YUMMY! The link is below and it is the first recipe, called Fresh Strawberry Bars

Annoying Phone Calls

Everyone gets those annoying phone calls, where they ask you to hold while they get a representative, and ask if you can please make a donation to jimmy fund, our local catholic church,ms walk, 3rd world countries, or my favorite the local police department and the list goes on. Well not that I'm a horrible person because i have made some contributions in the past,(which is why and how they got my number), but were in a recession people. I don't have a job and can hardly keep up with my own bills, let alone donations to help the police department have another vehicle to chase after ME with. So here is my plan every time they call, I'm going too write down there number then one day, after a few glasses of wine, I'm going to call them, ask them to hold, then ask THEM for a donation. Lets see if they can help the less fortunate, who cant find a job.
Again I'm not greedy or a stickler for donations, I do my large fair of donating and volunteering every year. All I ask is that you do not call my house at 8:00 in the morning asking for money.

Back from Boston

Well were settled in back from our weekend away in Boston. First off any blog readers that live in Boston, I am terribly jealous of you. Every time I visit the city I love it more and more and would move there in a heart beat. I told my husband I hope K goes to college in Boston so we can visit and maybe get an apt on the other side of the bridge. I love love love it there. First off we went to the house of blues, for a State Radio concert which was fun. Sunday we went to a Sox game which they won, and was exciting. Not my first time at fen way but every time i go i love it more, it is a small yet clean old stadium. I have been to the Mets and Yankees games and felt it was overcrowded and VeRy dirty. I don't know if because it was over crowded but it was not a great place to go to enjoy a game.

All though I did not get a chance to do any shopping, it was a nice stay in the hotel,(Renaissance Marriott hotel on Congress) we stayed on the 21st floor and had a great view. After talking it over with Mr. he agreed for us t go back Memorial day weekend with K. I'm excited and already planning the trip, she has never been so this will be exciting. We decided to stay in the same hotel since it was so nice, here is the view from the room --

TGIF!!!

As happy as I am that its Friday, I'm more happy about the weekend ahead. Tomorrow morning were heading out to Boston to see State radio live and a sox game Sunday. Im charging the camera and packing the bags. Besides myself the hubby and another couple are joining us. NO KIDDIES!! we haven't had a break or a day away in awhile so this is something to be excited about.

Its also K's last spring break day off that I can spend with her since she will be with her grandparents over the weekend. We are going to hit up Oldnavy for a bathing suit for her, I picked up this one last week but was the wrong size. Then tonight is K's soccer practice, which I enjoy going to cause I can read in the car for a good hour with peace and quiet.

Check out Gap/Banana's new site called Athleta. It's all sports wear, great skirts for golf and tennis. I'm excited to check out the whole site, here is just a peek at something I might have to order:
